barre chords

Barre chords are moveable.

The quality of the chord (Major, Minor, ‘7’, etc.), remains the same where ever the chord is positioned on the fretboard. However, the ROOT NOTE (R) on which the chord is built will change depending where the chord is positioned.

For example, when the ‘Cm7’ chord is moved two frets up the fretboard, it becomes a ‘Dm7’ chord. The quality of the chord (m7) remains the same, but the root note is now on ‘D’.

All chords in the left column have their root note on the sixth string and all chords on the right have their root note on the fifth string.
